Le Movie Club is an exciting new collaboration between The Bioscope Independent Cinema, The Alliance Française of Johannesburg and the French Institute of South Africa.

On the last Thursday of every month, immerse yourself in the vibrant cultures of French and Francophone films from around the world. Throughout the year there will be different themes such as African cinema, French comedy, Animation and Music. All the films are shown in French with English subtitles. Late 1970’s in Yopougon - a popular neigbhbourhood in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. It is here that 19-year old Aya lives. She’s a serious girl who prefers to stay at home and study instead of going out with friends. Aya’s days are devoted entirely to school, family and her two best friends Adja and Bintou, who, for their part, think only of drinking on the sly in the bars at night...
